Many years ago, my mother showed me something that I never forgot. She picked out one of my father’s shirts and pointed to a stain in it.

“Do you know what these stains are? These are stains from coconut water. Your father likes coconuts so much and he is always drinking coconut water.”

She said, “So many of his shirts are stained with this coconut water and I cannot get rid of them.”

She explained, “I can wash away everything with soap. I can wash out palm oil, dirt, chocolate, tea, coffee, stew, soup, toothpaste but I cannot wash out coconut stain.”

“Wow,’ I said, “I never knew that coconut stains were so difficult to get rid of.”

Indeed, Omo, Ariel, Sunlight soap, Rexona, Lux, Imperial Leather are not able to wash away the coconut stains.

“So what can wash away the coconut stain?” “Nothing,” she said.

Every time I think of the coconut stain I think of the stain of sin. I ask myself, “What can wash away our sins? What can wash away our lies, our stealing, our fornication and our murders?

Nothing, but the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins.

Nothing but the BLOOD OF JESUS!!

Only the BLOOD OF JESUS has the power to wash away these terrible stains!

What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus. How precious is that blood, that washes away my sins…

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9:22

3 Biblical Ways to Engage Social Media

3 Biblical Ways to Engage Social Media

Humility is the last thing we want to pull off and the first thing God tells us to pull off. Why is it so hard? Because we as human beings, in our nature, desperately want to be loved. And we believe that by our actions and accomplishments, we will be loved.

Nothing you do in this lifetime will gain you enough favor in the eyes of those around you to fill your needs. So I have an idea. Let’s quit. Scripture tells us in Isaiah 57:14-15 that God lives with the humble. If this is the case, then I am assuming He has a hard time living with the proud. Humility does not come without humbling ourselves first. You can’t just wake up tomorrow and have humility.

You literally have to have an action before the outcome of humility. And that action is humbling ourselves in the sight of the Lord. Not in the sight of man. But in the sight of the Lord. In this world of social media, this has become a more and more difficult task. I think there are some ways to seek true Biblical humility online.

Here are some ideas.

1.  Point people to God more than you point people to yourself.

I know this may seem obvious, but it may be the most difficult action to pull off. Just go back and read your Twitter stream. I’m not saying you need to be a preacher on the corner of the street with a bullhorn, I’m just saying that Jesus made you as awesome as you are telling people you are. Give Him some credit for the love.

2.  Dive into others’ online communities and stop begging people to simply be a part of yours.

This is a struggle. Especially in a world where there are seminars on how to build tribes and other awesomeness. But by sharing yourself in the digital spaces of others, you are lifting them up above yourself.

3.  Use your platform to give voice to another.

Every month, I try to tell of another up and coming voice that I think people need to know of. I’ve seen others who I have given voice to actually outgrow my own voice online. This is a true test in humility, to continue to point to one who has outgrown your voice after the fact. But it is so worth it.

whoisJesus (1)

In chemistry, He turned water to wine.
In biology, He was born without the normal conception.
In physics, He disapproved the law of gravity when He ascended into heaven.
In economics, He disapproved the law of diminishing return by feeding 5,000 men with two fishes and 5 loaves of bread.
In medicine, He cured the sick and the blind without administering a single dose of drugs.
In history, He is the beginning and the end.
In government, He said that he shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace.
In religion, He said no one comes to the Father except through him;
So. Who is He? He is Jesus! The greatest man in history.

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
He had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
He had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.

Dear Reader,
Have you ever been faced with a decision that comes with major repercussions?

Should I stay in this city, or should I move? Should I take this job offer or stay at home with the kids? Should I marry this person or that person? Should I stay at this company or start my own?

Sometimes one decision in your life can have ripple effects that are felt for years to come. I want to ask you about one of the biggest decisions you will ever make.

Are you going to live your life in fear,
or will you determine to live your life by faith?

I believe your answer to that question will set the course for your life from this moment on. The good news is this: When you choose to live by faith, fear becomes obsolete. Faith chases away fear at every turn. I know this is true because I’ve seen it in my own life.

Fear tried to keep me from God’s promise,
but faith propelled me into my purpose.

I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that the same thing can happen for you. If you , your life will be forever changed. You and I aren’t the only ones who have dealt with this issue. Consider the twelve disciples in Matthew 14. In this passage of scripture, the disciples are trying to cross the Sea of Galilee, but a storm has arisen and they are being buffeted by the winds and waves.

I want you to see something in this familiar story that you might not have seen before: The disciples are afraid of their circumstance (the storm), and they are afraid of their solution (Jesus walking on the water). Fear has them paralyzed in the boat.

If you know what it’s like to be stuck in a storm—”troubled” or “in fear”— I’ve got an encouragement that is going to bless you today. Jesus can calm your fear and increase your faith!

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us–and all of us will experience them–we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God.  The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God’s power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

The Bible says, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.” Isaiah 40:31
